Aircraft History / Damage
The aircraft was purchased by the current owner new from the factory in 2011 and has been professionally flown and hangared. It has been maintained primarily by Interstate Turbine Management, the Cirrus Service Center on field at CHS.
* In November 2016, the engine suffered an in-flight catastrophic failure and complete power loss. The pilot was forced to land the aircraft off-airport but on a highway where the only additional damage sustained was to the pitot tube. After landing a very small fire occurred and was immediately extinguished by the pilot.
Subsequently, the engine was removed entirely and all systems and components were replaced “firewall forward” with entirely factory new parts and absolutely no damaged parts remain. The propeller and prop governor were overhauled by H&H Propellor. The only “airframe” damage outside the engine cowling was to the pitot tube when it struck a mailbox.
The Aircraft has flown 600+ hours since then with no issues. Full documentation is available upon request. All repairs completed by the Cirrus Authorized Service Center.
